Ribbon on your scrapbook pages

What are some of the ways that you can use ribbon on your scrapbook pages? Check out these ideas!

• Use a strip of ribbon to divide sections of a page
• Hide spots where something overlaps
• Call attention to a particular picture by mounting it on top of a piece of ribbon (works particularly well if the ribbon color picks up a color from the picture!)
• Use ribbon like a banner for the page title: stamp letters, punch them out, and hang them from the ribbon with twine
• Fold a short strip of ribbon and attach it to the corner of a picture or embellishment to attract the eye
• Using a bunch of coordinating ribbon, cut strips slightly wider than your picture and lay them side-by-side to use as a mat

As you play with it, you will probably find dozens of uses for beautiful ribbon on your scrapbook pages!

NJ Crop Weekends Packing Tip #4: last-minute things to remember!

As you get your things ready to attend the NJ Crop Weekends Fall 2011 Crop, there are plenty of little details to remember!  We'd like to help you out with a few reminders:

Don't forget to ask someone to feed the cat and/or dog and/or fish...

As you arrive, drive all the way up to the front door and one of the bellhops will help you unload the stuff from your car onto a cart, and will take it to the crop room and unload it for you at your table.  How's that for service?! (hint: they do appreciate a small gratuity).

After you are set, you can move your car back around to the covered lot under the building (note you pass the entrance to this lot on the right when you are coming up to the front door).

And what are some of the things you can leave at home?  Cares, worries, and the need to feed the family, do laundry or drive anybody anywhere!

What are the best things to bring with you?  Your creative spirit, friendly nature and sense of fun!  It's going to be a great weekend!

Crop packing list!

Hello!  Are you packing for the NJ Crop Weekend yet?  Here's a suggested list that might jog your thinking.

Remember, we offer complimentary use of a Big Shot machine and a large selection of dies and embossing folders, as well as a large selection of punches available for your use (some people may wish to bring their own).  You may also wish to bring:

Paper – card stock and Designer Series Paper

Ink Pads

Stamps, Stampin’ Scrub & Stampin’ Mist

Paper cutter/scissors

Adhesive

Pens & markers

Ruler

Pictures if you are scrapbooking

Distressing kit/tool kit

Crop-a-dile, brads/eyelets/ribbon/other embellishments

Chalks, daubers, sponges

Crystal effects/paints/brushes/glitter/embossing powder & heat gun

Container to keep your completed projects safe

Cards for the card swap

Shelves or organizational items for your workspace

Idea books/sketch books, quote books

Non-spill beverage cup and holder if desired

Snacks and beverages if desired – remember we have great stuff at the kiosk!

PJs or comfy crop clothes/sweatshirt or light jacket

GLASSES?!

Ready to crop?

It is two weeks until the August 6-7 NJ Crop Weekend!  If you have not yet signed up, there is still room (Click here for details). 

Have you started thinking about what you are going to work on at the crop?  For those of you who are scrapbookers, now is a great time to order prints of pictures that you plan to be using!  Do you need enlargements of any of your pictures?  You can print them at a local photo store or an online print site, but it's a good idea to leave plenty of time for them to come back. 

Of course, if you are working on digital scrapbooking with My Digital Studio, you can crop and resize pictures yourself!  In that case, your next task would be to download all the pictures out of your camera. 

Weekend is Coming!!

Are you ready for some scrapbooking, girlfriends and time away? Well it's less than 48 hours away!

I have my pictures, tools and paper almost packed. I am thinking tonight my plan is to go through my pictures I want to scrap and figure out my themes. Pick my paper color scheme and what embellishments I want to use. Since I am doing a Baby Boy album for a Friend, I am thinking I would want to use, bashful blue, night of navy, almost navy, all the neutrals, so saffron, daffodil delight, and greens. Maybe some Cajun craze and pumpkin pie. If you are not sure what colors to put together, use your color coach! And if you don't have one, order one from your Demo this weekend, so you have it for next time. It's a must have.

As far as embellishments ,I will plan to bring, buttons, brads, ribbon and use the big shot to make my own die cuts. Yes we will have a Big Shot and many dies for you to use  and the Cricut. I will also bring a few stickers. A few years ago I went to a crop and left all my stickers home and I had a ton. Well! I learned to do my pages without them and used my resources there and made my own. Since then I have used very few stickers or none at all! I guess you can say I am now Sticker Free!

When you come to the crop and realize you forgot something, don't fret!  Ask around, go to the help desk and ask questions or for some help. That is what we are here for, and we have the best scrapbooking customers ever. They are more than happy to help their fellow scrapper in need! So Happy Scrapping and SEE YOU AT THE CROP!!

Things to think about before the crop!

" Not every page has to be a masterpiece." - simplify...and don't worry.  If you forget something...someone in the room will probably have it!!

"Life is just a scrapbook waiting for us to put it on acid free paper" - Every thing you do this weekend, would be something you would want to scrapbook, just for yourself.  Remember, this is a time to relax, have fun, and enjoy time with friends.

"The more organized you are, the more time you have to scrapbook."- If you find some time before you start to pack, figure out what you would like to accomplish!

"A PICTURE is worth a THOUSAND words, but a scrapbook page is worth a MILLION memories......" - You are creating "history" with your scrapbooks.  A world for your family and friends to enjoy, reminisce, and embrace.

"Born to Crop! Not to Mop!" - No working this weekend...only cropping!

ONLY ONE WEEK AWAY....CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL THERE!

 

Start preparing for the weekend

Hey girls-

Did you know the crop is only 16 days away.   A good suggestion is to start thinking about what you would like to accomplish while your there...scrapbooking, card making, sleeping, relaxing...anything you can dream up...

But if you are planning to scrapbook, start thinking about what you want to scrapbook.  Get those pictures printed.  Start thinking about papers and embellishments.

Card makers, make sure you get those ideas flowing now so you know what stamps to bring, inks you will need, embellishments, and paper.

Crafting storage and organizing Tip!

Hi all, I have a tip on organizing your scraps tip. I actually got this tip from my 2nd upline Jen Peel. She organizes her scraps in a file cabinet. Thanks Jen!!  Any way saw this file cart with 2 baskets underneath the files from The Container Store, which by the way is my most favorite store. LOVE IT! Its my store for all my organizing needs, and I am an Organizing Diva!  I organized my files according to color family with SU Names , ex: Almost Navy , Not Quite Navy and Bashful Blue in one file folder etc.. and use the actual color in the tabs with the name on it.  Here is a picture, I wanted to share because I just love this and it is always at my side and available!! Just slide in and out from under my desk. If you want to see other organizing ideas , leave me a message.

 

Oh no almost forgot, don't forget the Winter Cropweekend is coming up- Feb. 25-27. Still spaces available! Just a couple days away!!!

Are you ready for an awesome weekend at the Dolce?  Here are some suggestions for preparation:

• print those pictures
• get paper and embellishments ready for pages
• bring layout books
• decide if you will be stamping cards as well
• Don't forget those adhesives (I did it one time and I had to scrounge around for some)
• Bring extra money for massages through the weekend
• A bathing suit for the pool or hot tub
• Your party hat!!!

We are all excited and getting ready for all of you to have the time of your lives!  See you in 3 days!
