THANK YOU WINTER 2012 CROPPERS!!

On behalf of all of us at NJ Crop Weekends, we would like to thank all of you who were able to join us for this past weekend.  It was the BEST - lots of old friends, lots of new friends, lots of laughs, lots of great food, and all in our favorite place in the world to scrapbook - the Dolce Basking Ridge!

If you were at the crop (or even if you weren't), please take a moment to sign up for our mailing list if you haven't already.  As soon as we have the date for our Summer Crop, we will post it here on our blog and also send out an email to our mailing list subscribers.

Winter 2012 Crop Tip - Packing Tip #2

Are you getting your stuff together for the Crop Weekend yet? You don't need much as we are not a dressy crowd. Think comfort! We recommend you bring:

• Clothes, undergarments and socks for each day
• Light jacket to throw on or off so you can adjust your comfort level (or get an NJ Crop Weekend Wear sweatshirt at the Marketplace!)
• Comfy shoes (or slippers!)
• Pajamas & robe (and the aforementioned slippers!)
• Personal toilet kit
• Note: the hotel supplies soap, shampoo & hair dryers
• Swimsuit & flip flops for the pool
• Magazines or reading materials if desired
• Mug or beverage cup WITH A LID is always nice - saves a spill from ruining your project (or your neighbor's!)
• We play an eclectic selection of great music but you are welcome to bring your own iPod. Note no other music should be played at the crop unless it is on your own headphones!
• Snacks or beverages if you have something you can't live without - but remember, the snack kiosk has great yummies, tea, coffee & soda all day & evening (that's one of our favorite things about crops at the Dolce!)

Winter 2012 Crop Tip - Packing Tip #1

Hello! Are you packing for the NJ Crop Weekend yet? Here's a suggested list that might jog your thinking.

Remember, we offer complimentary use of a Big Shot machine and a large selection of dies and embossing folders, as well as a large selection of punches available for your use (some people may wish to bring their own). You may also wish to bring:

• Paper – card stock and Designer Series Paper
• Ink Pads
• Stamps, Stampin’ Scrub & Stampin’ Mist
• Paper cutter/scissors
• Adhesive (and adhesive remover!)
• Pens & markers
• Ruler
• Pictures if you are scrapbooking
• Distressing kit/tool kit
• Crop-a-dile, brads/eyelets/ribbon/other embellishments
• Chalks, daubers, sponges
• Crystal effects/paints/brushes/glitter/embossing powder & heat gun
• Container to keep your completed projects safe
• Cards for the card swap
• My Favorite Item for the swap
• Shelves or organizational items for your workspace
• Idea books/sketch books, quote books
• Non-spill beverage cup (and holder if desired) - remember please, no uncovered beverages at the tables, for the safety of your projects... and your neighbor's!!
• Snacks and beverages if desired – remember we have great stuff at the kiosk!
• PJs or comfy crop clothes/sweatshirt or light jacket (you may want an NJ Crop Weekend Wear sweatshirt!)
• GLASSES?!

Now... get packing!

Signup Deadline for Winter Crop 2012 Classes & Project Kits is Tuesday 2/14!

Deadline for signing up for classes or ordering the project kits is Tuesday, February 14th... so give yourself a Valentine and sign up!

We have four terrific classes scheduled for over the weekend:

• 30 Minute Layout Class, Saturday, 2/25
• Make Your Own Embellishments Class, Saturday, 2/25
• Techniques Class, Saturday, 2/25 & Sunday, 2/26
• My Digital Studio Hybrid Card Class, Sunday, 2/26

All classes are $20, will be only an hour long (so you don't take too much time away from your own projects!) and are limited to 8 people each. Click here for details, sample pictures and to sign up!

The Project Kits include all the consumable materials that are needed to put them together, and you can either take them home or work on them at your own pace at your desk using your own basic adhesives, etc... PS And just a hint of something new that is coming up at this crop - we will be doing a free demonstration of My Digital Studio Express using the free 30 day trial available from Stampin' Up! You can either come and watch, or download the free trial on your laptop and do it hands-on!

Winter Crop 2012: Table Massage Therapist Appointments

We are excited to announce that we will have FOUR massage therapists joining us for our Winter Crop Weekend!  Three - Jean, Diane, and Phyllis - will be doing private one-hour long table massages for $80 and Aletha will be back for chair massages and reflexology for $1/minute.  If you would like to book with one of the three therapists doing table massages, please contact Jen at JenPeel@jenstamps.com.  Appointments will be assigned on a first come first served basis.  Please provide your top three choices for appointment times and therapists and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

You will be able to sign up for appointments for chair massages and reflexology with Aletha at the weekend.

Winter 2012: Class Schedule Announced!

We are happy to announce the classes for the Winter Crop 2012.  Please read below as there are a few changes to the classes based on feedback from past events!

ALL classes will be just one hour long and each will be $20.  You will need to bring scissors, a paper trimmer, and adhesives of your choice to each class.  Class project photos are posted here.

Classes will be limited to 8 people per session, so please reserve early. Your payment is your only guarantee and reservation in the class.  Class registration ends on February 14.  If classes reach their maximum of 8 people quickly, we will open up a second session, making 8 more spots available.

Please pay by PayPal for the most efficient transaction.

30 Minute Scrapbook Layout Class - 3 spots left

In this 30 Minute Scrapbooking class, you will create 2 single page 12x12 layouts featuring the new Twitterpated Designer Series Paper. Class fee includes all supplies to create both layouts plus step by step instructions for you to take home! There will be tips and tricks for creating great scrapbook pages quickly!

Make Your Own Embellishments Class - 2 spots left

In this Embellishments Class, you will create several unique embellishments for your scrapbook pages, cards, or other paper crafting using paper, ribbons, and other "common" scrapbooking materials.  You'll walk away with great new embellishments and the knowledge to create even more!

In this Techniques Class, you will learn 6 new techniques never taught before!  All your samples will be completed on a Top Note Die, so if you already have a ring of techniques, you can add to them!  Or you can start your ring with these 6.  All these stamping techniques can be used for card making, scrapbooking, or any paper crafting!

My Digital Studio Hybrid Card Class - 7 spots left

Come see how to make fast & easy greeting cards with My Digital Studio, the intuitive design software from Stampin’ Up!   In this class we will demonstrate the creation of several cards on the big screen, and then you will add embellishments to the printed cards to create hybrid greeting cards.  No prior knowledge of My Digital Studio is necessary and you don’t need to bring your computer!

Swap signup deadline this Friday, Feb. 3

If you're coming to the Winter Crop Weekend Feb. 24-26, just a reminder about the swap deadline this Friday. Feb. 3! There will be two swaps and you can join in one or both:

1) All-Occasion Card Swap, where you make up to a dozen cards that can be used for any occasion and receive the same number in exchange. Please note that these do not have to be the Taj Mahal of cards - everyone has some fun ideas in them, and it is great to share! We all love getting cards and seeing how people use all that great stuff we have - and they do NOT have to be all Stampin' Up! cards, either!

2) My Favorite Object Swap, where you share your favorite crafting tool or object, with the option of wrapping or decorating it in an interesting manner. Bring up to 8 of the item, suggested cost per item between $3-5, and you will receive the same number of other peoples' favorites in exchange.

To sign up for either (or both) swaps, email Carol at carol@carolGpapercrafts.com by this Friday, Feb. 3. For the My Favorite Object Swap, include a suggestion of what you are thinking of swapping (we already headed off a potential duplication!).

Carol will let you know by next Monday how many cards (up to a dozen) or "faves" (up to 8) we will be swapping. We can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
